Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto (D-Bergen/Hudson) praised the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling Friday in favor of marriage equality:
“The President got it right today when he said ‘we have made our union a little more perfect.’
“This is truly an historic day for the same-sex couples across the nation who are no longer relegated to second-class citizenship, as well as the ones in New Jersey who no longer have to worry about their marriage not being recognized by other states in their own country.
“Whenever we build a more inclusive society we create a stronger nation. History will no doubt reflect that when looking back on this momentous day.”
