Speaker Prieto: Serious Dialogue Needed if N.J. is to Invest in Workforce, Infrastructure & Communities

(TRENTON) – Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto (D-Hudson/Bergen) released the following statement Thursday after speaking at a Better Choices for New Jersey campaign will rally at the State House:

“These are important yet difficult times for New Jersey. We face a deep and painful budget crisis that is the result of five years of poor decisions that left New Jersey with no ability to handle a shortfall. The ramifications would have been worse if it wasn’t for the fiscal responsibility of Democrats.
“We must stop protecting the mega-rich while the working class continuously pays the price, and we must grasp the reality of a decaying infrastructure and of struggling communities.
“Hopefully, we can all realize that this problem won’t be solved with slogans and catchphrases, but with an honest look at the state’s budget woes. We need a serious dialogue about how to correct New Jersey’s problems so that we can invest in its workforce, infrastructure and communities.”
