Speaker Prieto Statement on MLK Jr. Day 2015

Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto (D-Hudson/Bergen) released the following statement Monday on Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2015:

“Today is a day in which we remember the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., but also a reminder that we should remember the goals of that dream each and every day.

“Striving to reach Dr. King’s legacy of equality is ongoing effort, whether it be fighting to end economic inequality, supporting the continued struggle for civil rights and justice for all or understanding that many now believe the American dream is just too far out of their reach.

“As we reflect upon Dr. King today, let us redouble our energy to make New Jersey and America a place reflective of Dr. King’s dream. As Dr. King said, ‘Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’ If we ask ourselves that question every day, we can make Dr. King’s dream a reality.”
