Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto released the following statement Thursday on a new Rutgers-Eagleton poll, which shows that fewer New Jerseyans oppose an increase in the gas tax when they understand that the revenue is needed to fix the state’s crumbling roads and bridges:
“These results show that New Jersey voters understand that borrowing more money and incurring more state debt is not a sustainable transportation funding plan and the need for increased revenue into the Transportation Trust Fund is urgent and real,” said Prieto (D-Hudson).
