Spencer: Christie Has Done a Disserve to NJ by Bragging About Dismantling Enviro Protections in Iowa

Assembly Environment Committee Chair L. Grace Spencer (D-Essex) on Monday said Gov. Christie has done a disserve to the people of New Jersey by bragging to Iowa voters over the weekend about “dismantling” environmental protections back home.

“The Governor’s comments were an incredible affront to the people of this state, especially the many Sandy victims who are still displaced two and a half years after the storm hit.

“But it’s his actions, even more so than his words, which are a disservice to New Jersey.

“For someone who has been hit with unprecedented weather events during his watch, bragging about rolling back things like our flood hazard rules does not seem like a wise thing to do.

“Pulling us out of an historic regional agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, slashing our solar energy program and the jobs that go along with it, and raiding our clean energy fund – these were all capricious decisions in which the Governor seems to be taking pride,” said Spencer.
