Statement from Speaker Coughlin on New Jersey Minimum Wage Increase Effective Jan. 1

Statement from Speaker Coughlin on New Jersey Minimum Wage Increase Effective Jan. 1:

“As we usher in the New Year, we also welcome New Jersey’s minimum wage rising over a dollar to $14.13 an hour. My foundational belief remains that no family should have to choose between keeping the lights on and putting food on the table.

Moving families towards $15 an hour was a monumental accomplishment for the working people of our state. With the sixth highest minimum wage in the nation, I am proud of the action we have taken to incrementally raise the floor and secure the fair, livable wage all New Jerseyans deserve to be able to meet their basic needs.

“By advancing policy to strengthen New Jersey families, business resilience, and people’s overall well-being, the Legislature will continue the fight for fair and equitable economic opportunity.”
