STENDER, VAINIERI HUTTLE CALL REPUBLICAN FLIP-FLOP ON WOMEN’S HEALTH A SAD POLITICAL PLOY

Assemblywomen Linda Stender and Valerie Vainieri Huttle today called the Assembly Republican’s late game support of women’s health funding an 11th hour political ploy designed to pander to the women they have abandoned for the last 18 months.

“Republicans have had countless opportunities over the last 18 months to support women’s health care and they have turned their backs every time,” said Stender (D-Middlesex/Somerset/Union). “Now that their neglect has caught up with them in the polls, they feel the need to pander to women voters. The Democrats have and will continue to support funding for health care for low and middle income women with little other means or recourse.”

“The Republicans’ proposal to fund women’s health still represents a tedious ideology,” said Vainieri Huttle (D-Bergen). “Apparently, they only support this funding if they can call it what they want. Meanwhile, for the past year, low and middle income women have been losing access to health care at alarming rates as health centers around the state have been forced to close or scale back their hours and services. Had they come on board to support our efforts last year, this could have easily been avoided.”
