Sumter: Christie Administration Once Again Undercuts Struggling Communities with Transitional Aid Freeze

Christie Administration Signed Executive Order Freezing Half of Transitional Aid

(TRENTON) – Assembly Majority Conference Leader Shavonda Sumter (D-Bergen/Passaic) today denounced the Christie administration’s decision to freeze half of the transitional aid allocated in the FY2017 budget to help struggling municipalities like Paterson and Trenton.

“Struggling municipalities like Paterson, Union City, Trenton and Camden continue to take a hit under the Christie administration. This is a terrible decision which will only further hurt these financially distressed communities. How are these communities supposed to rebound when the administration keeps setting up roadblocks? These are real people, real families who will feel the consequences of this unreasonable action by the administration. These residents deserve better than a governor who consistently undercuts them.”
