(TRENTON) – Assembly Majority Conference Leader Shavonda Sumter (D- Bergen, Passaic) issued the following statement on school funding and the budget address:
“Addressing the inequities in school funding is critical for cities such as Paterson — with a highly diverse student population that requires its fair share of funding – to be able to provide a thorough and efficient education.
“A proposal to modernize our current school funding formula to move us closer to a goal of full and fair funding is one that is worth thorough review and consideration.
“This is only the beginning of a budget process that will require our undivided attention to the issues facing New Jersey, the concerns of its residents and to each step and detail in this process.”
