Sumter, Wimberly to Join Senator Rice & NJ Organizations to Raise Awareness of Issues Impacting the African American Community

Legislators, Organizations to Discuss Budget and Education Concerns


(TRENTON) – Assembly Democrats Shavonda E. Sumter and Benjie E. Wimberly ( both D-Bergen, Passaic) will join Senator Ronald Rice and several African American organizations, including the New Jersey Legislative Black Caucus, at a press conference on Thursday to announce their alliance to drive forward important issues that will have an impact on New Jersey’s African American communities.

Representing the participating organizations will be Reva Foster, President of NJ Black Issues Convention; Richard Smith, President of NJ State Conference NAACP; and Barbara Wellons, NJ State Social Action Coordinator, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

Current budget and education concerns are among the topics to be discussed.

The press conference will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 12 in State House, Room 109.
