Sweeney & Prieto Want To Work With NY Legislative Leaders on Port Authority Reform

(TRENTON) — Senate President Steve Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto issued the following statement on Monday on their intention to work with legislative leaders in New York on the next steps on Port Authority reform:

“We remain disappointed that these common sense reform bills were not signed. Both bipartisan bills were approved unanimously by Democrats and Republicans alike in two states and should have become law, but we won’t allow the vetoes to stop us from instituting reforms to the Port Authority.

“We will consider all options as we weigh our next steps and plan to reach out to the legislative leaders in New York to discuss their plans and continued cooperation. We will examine the proposals recommended by both governors and determine if additional actions are needed.”
