38th DISTRICT LEGISLATORS ENCOURAGE BERGEN CTY FLOOD VICTIMS TO APPLY FOR LOW-INTEREST LOANS TO REPAIR DAMAGE

Senator Bob Gordon and Assemblywomen Joan Voss and Connie Wagner are encouraging residents of Bergen County who experienced damage due to flooding that took place between March 10-17, 2011 to apply for low-interest loans that were recently made available through the Small Business Administration.

“Flood damage can be devastating and costly. Anyone in need of assistance for repairs should consider reaching out to the SBA to inquire about eligibility for this worthwhile low-interest loan program,” said Gordon (D-Bergen).

Homeowners and renters in Bergen County are eligible for loans up to $200,000 to repair damaged or destroyed real estate and up to $40,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property.

“We’re pleased that the SBA is making these loans available to help homeowners deal with the headaches and financial strain of trying to recover from flood damage,” said Voss (D-Bergen).

“This is a great program to help homeowners get back on their feet again,” said Wagner (D-Bergen). “Given the difficult economic times, low interest loans of this type can be an enormous help for struggling homeowners.”

Starting Friday, June 17, 2011 SBA’s customer service representatives will be on hand at two Disaster Loan Outreach Centers to answer questions about the disaster loan program, explain the process, issue and help individuals complete their applications.

The north Jersey center will be open until July 2, 2011 and the location and hours of operation are:

5 Brophy Lane
Community Room, 2nd floor
