(TRENTON) – The Assembly Budget Committee on Thursday will continue advancing the Legislature’s “Back to Work NJ” economic development package.
The hearing is set for noon Thursday, Dec. 16 in Committee Room 11 in the State House Annex. It will be streamed live at http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/media/live_audio.asp.
Assembly Speaker Sheila Y. Oliver (D-Essex/Passaic) and Senate President Stephen M. Sweeney (D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland) announced the job-creation and pro-business agenda at a State House press conference on Nov. 24.
Thursday’s bills include:
Permits Internet wagering at Atlantic City casinos under certain circumstances.
(pending referral) Streamlines process for State and local agency business permits related to economic development projects.
(pending referral) Expands existing film and digital media production tax credit programs; designated as the Garden State Film and Digital Media Jobs Act.
(pending referral) Provides for development of searchable “Bulletin NJ” local public bidding and employment database.
(pending referral) Provides corporation with right to renounce corporate opportunity doctrine.
(pending referral) Maintains right of corporate directors and officers to indemnification under certain circumstances.
(pending referral) Expands gross income tax exclusion for pensions, annuities and other retirement income for certain taxpayers.
Dedicates revenues derived from certain sales and uses subject to sales and use tax to provide enhanced incentives for breeding and development of certain racehorses in this State.
O’Donnell Concerns creation of benefit corporations.
Oliver/Wilson Authorizes local public contract set-aside program for employers who hire former prisoners.
Oliver Authorizes various public entities to utilize competitive contracting procedures for certain energy savings improvement projects.
