(TRENTON) – The Assembly Housing and Community Development Committee will consider several bills on Thursday requiring lead paint testing on certain rental and for-sale properties to better protect residents, especially young children, from lead poisoning.
The meeting, which is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., will be held in Committee Room 9 on the 3rd floor of the State House Annex in Trenton. It will streamed live at http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/media/live_audio.asp
The lead inspection bills are:
- A-3585 (Muoio/Gusciora/Schaer/Spencer) Requires municipalities to conduct lead paint inspections in single- and two-family dwellings; requires reporting of inspection results to State.
- A-3611 (Muoio/Spencer) Requires lead paint inspection prior to home purchases and tenant turnover; establishes educational program on lead hazards.
- A-3706 (Conaway/Benson) Requires owners of residential rental property to conduct lead hazard inspections in certain situations.
