*** THURSDAY ADVISORY *** Establishing Health Benefit Exchange Tops Thursday Assembly Agendas

(TRENTON) – Plans by an Assembly panel to consider legislation to implement a vital aspect of the federal health care reform law by creating a state health insurance exchange highlight Thursday’s Assembly committee agendas.

Highlights include:
· A bill (A-3186) to implement essential aspects of national health care reform by implementing the New Jersey Health Benefit Exchange Act. It’s sponsored by Herb Conaway M.D., Troy Singleton (both D-Burlington), Upendra Chivukula (D-Somerset/Middlesex), Ruben Ramos (D-Hudson) and John Wisniewski (D-Middlesex) and will be heard at 10 a.m. by the Assembly health panel.
· A bill (A-2297) sponsored by Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-Mercer/Hunterdon) to establish a loan redemption program for teachers employed in schools in need of improvement. It will be heard at 10 a.m. by the Assembly Higher Education Committee.
· Legislation (A-3269) sponsored by Celeste Riley (D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland), Connie Wagner (D-Bergen/Passaic), Charles Mainor (D-Hudson) and Tom Giblin (D-Essex/Passaic) to require public colleges and universities to collect and report employment data for graduates. It will be heard at 10 a.m. by the Assembly Higher Education Committee.
· A measure (A-3038) sponsored by Herb Conaway M.D. and Troy Singleton (both D-Burlington) to require water companies to notify customers of requests to increase rates. It will be heard at 2 p.m. by the Assembly Telecommunications and Utilities Committee.
