Tucker Joins Murphy in Opposing Transgender Military Ban

Applauds New Jersey Joining Multi-state Coalition to Support Transgender Service Members in National Guard

(TRENTON) – Assemblywoman Cleopatra Tucker (D-Essex), chair, Assembly Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee, released the following statement Monday in response to Gov. Phil Murphy’s recent announcement that New Jersey will join a multi-state coalition formed to oppose President Trump’s transgender military ban and support transgender service members continuing to serve in the National Guard:

“I applaud Governor Phil Murphy for joining these states to oppose President Trump’s transgender ban that is so hurtful toward service men and women who simply want to defend and protect our country. By joining this coalition, we will be uniting with Nevada, Washington, Oregon, California and New Mexico to show that discrimination has no place in the National Guard or the Armed Forces.”
