Assemblywoman Cleopatra Tucker (D-Essex) released the following statement Friday in response to a premature baby’s death linked to a bacterial infection at University Hospital:
“I was extremely saddened to learn of this child’s death due to a bacterial infection and offer my condolences to the family. I can’t begin to imagine the pain and disappointment that they feel.
“As one of the legislators representing Newark and a resident for more than 50 years, I am committed to working with University Hospital, the Department of Health and other appropriate officials to take the necessary corrective actions in the hospital’s NICU.”
