Tucker: Soldiers Who Die in Battle “Deserve Nothing Less Than Our Thanks for Their Sacrifice”

In response to a recent media report of President Donald Trump referring to American soldiers who died in battle as “losers” and “suckers,” Chairwoman of the Assembly Military and Veterans Affairs Cleopatra Tucker (D-Essex) issued the following statement:

If these comments were indeed made by President Trump, they are a disgrace to his role as Commander-in-Chief. Our soldiers, both past and present, deserve the utmost respect for their defense of our nation. The men and women who risk their lives for this country should be recognized for their bravery. To view them as ‘losers’ is to completely disregard the courage it takes to face the battlefield. Our nation owes a debt to the Americans who have fought and died on our behalf – they deserve nothing less than our thanks for their sacrifice.”
