Vainieri Huttle Applauds Creation of Age-Friendly State Advisory Council

(TRENTON) – Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle (D-Bergen), chair of the Assembly Aging and Senior Services Committee, released the following statement in support of an executive order signed yesterday by Governor Phil Murphy to create the Age-Friendly State Advisory Council tasked with promoting community inclusion in New Jersey:

“By the end of this decade, one in five New Jersey residents will be age 65 or older. This group represents an integral part of our workforce and our communities.

“Active aging depends on access to employment and education opportunities, recreation activities, safe living spaces, reliable transportation, quality healthcare and much more. The work of this council will help us advance age-friendly practices and enhance quality of life for all residents of our state.

“I applaud the Governor for taking this crucial step towards creating more age-inclusive communities across New Jersey.”
