VAINIERI HUTTLE: CHRISTIE BUDGET TARGETS MIDDLE-CLASS AND WORKING POOR

(TRENTON) – Assembly Human Services Chairwoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle (D-Bergen) released the following statement on Tuesday after Gov. Chris Christie’s budget address:

“We all know that spending cuts are in order, but it’s hard to fathom Gov. Christie’s plan to throw working poor parents and children off health insurance and increase their income taxes while providing a tax break to the wealthy.

“Gov. Christie’s plan moves New Jersey in the wrong direction and will only lead to higher health care costs as more people are forced to rely on emergency rooms for treatment.

“That is a price that will be carried by working class New Jerseyans, but at least in Gov. Christie’s mind, the wealthy will be doing just fine.”
