After receiving a briefing on election security alongside her colleagues in the Assembly Homeland Security and State Preparedness and State and Local Government Committees, Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle (D-Bergen) released the following statement:
“After witnessing foreign interference in the 2016 election, ensuring the security of our election system is absolutely critical. Election security is an issue we do not take lightly in New Jersey. We must continue to stay abreast of current and potential threats, educate poll workers about how to handle potential conflicts, and ensure we are prepared to mitigate threats if they arise. New Jersey is a leader in protecting voting processes, and we will continue to take a proactive approach to securing our elections.
“I’d like to thank the Secretary of State, Department of Homeland Security, Division of Elections and New Jersey Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Cell for keeping the Legislature informed about these incredibly important issues.
