Vainieri Huttle Organizes Women’s Hygiene Product Drive for Domestic Violence Survivors

Drive will be held through October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month

(TRENTON) – Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle (D- Bergen) announced Tuesday her efforts to raise awareness of domestic violence and collect much-needed personal items, commonly unavailable, for female victims of domestic violence.

“New Jersey centers and shelters for domestic violence provide exceptional support to survivors through counseling and services,” said Vainieri Huttle. “We can help too by supporting organizational efforts through donations of items that can help make the pathway to a better life for survivors easier.”

“Women’s hygiene products are critical for female survivors of domestic violence and are often not as available as other items, such as clothes and food.”

The Women’s Hygiene Product Drive will take place throughout the month of October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and benefits the national organization, the Center for Hope and Safety. The items to be donated are feminine wipes, tampons and pads, sanitary napkins and panty liners.

“Feminine products are a tremendous help to women who often must leave domestic violence situations quickly and, at times, without anything but the clothes on their backs,” Vainieri Huttle added. “The less they have to worry about the little things, the more they will be able to focus on getting back to a sense of normalcy in their lives.”

New and packaged items may be dropped off Monday through Friday at 1 Engle Street Suite 108 in Englewood, during the hours of 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. The drive will in October 30. For further information or questions, residents may contact the 37th Legislative District Office at (201) 541-1118.
