Assemblywoman Annette Chaparro (D-Hudson) discusses her legislation (A-4184) to establish a statewide hit-and-run-advisory program to facilitate the apprehension of persons fleeing motor vehicle accidents.
The bill is known as Zackhary’s Law in remembrance of Zackhary Simmons, who was killed in Hoboken by a driver who fled the scene and was later arrested in New York. His family was in attendance to watch Wednesday’s Assembly vote on the bill. It was approved 71-0.
