Wagner, Eustace to Join One Million Mom Local Chapters for Rally on Gun Control Saturday, Jan. 26th

Focus on Safety Continues As Legislators Also Call on 38th District Citizen Panel To Discuss Gun Violence Prevention and Public Safety–Thursday, Jan. 24th

(Trenton) — Joining other state supporters of tougher gun control measure, Assembly Democrats Connie Wagner and Tim Eustace will participate in the Jersey Strong Rally taking place Saturday, January 26th at Lincoln Park in Jersey City.

The lawmakers encourage resident participation in Saturday’s rally. Gun violence prevention is a critical community issue heightened by the recent unspeakable tragedy in Connecticut.

The overwhelming support of the issue has prompted the Bergen County lawmakers to rally behind the national issue here in New Jersey instead of organizing bus trip to Washington. Local chapters of One Million Moms for Gun Control are organizing rallies around the country, including the New Jersey Chapter who has partnered with the City of Jersey City and Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy. The rallies will coincide with the march held in the nation’s capital.

The rally will take place in Lincoln Park (West Side and Belmont Avenues) from 11am to 1pm. For more information, residents may contact Julie O’Brien at the 38th District Legislative Office (201) 576-9199 or by

. Residents may also find the event on Facebook.

Wagner and Eustace will host the third meeting of the 38th District Educational Advisory Committee to hear residents’ views on school security issues on Thursday, January 24 at Bergen County Community College. The group has previously met to discuss budget issues, teacher evaluations and online learning.

Senator Gordon, Assembly members Eustace and Wagner continue to stress the importance of representing the views of educational leaders, parents, teachers and students on all issues.

The legislative district formed the panel of Bergen County Residents, last April, to gain insight into various community issues. The advisory committee is comprised of nearly twenty members residing in the following towns: Bergenfield, Fair Lawn, Glen Rock, Hasbrouck Heights, Hawthorne, Lodi, Maywood, New Milford, Oradell, Paramus, River Edge Rochelle Park and Saddle Brook.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Bergen County Community College in the Technology Education Center, Conference room TEC-128EF, 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
