Watson Coleman Stands with NJ Women Leaders to Support Earned Sick Days Legislation

(TRENTON) – Assembly Democrat Bonnie Watson-Coleman (D-Mercer, Hunterdon) issued the following statement after participating in a press conference that called for earned sick days for all workers:

“This is an important issue that affects the health and well-being of New Jersey’s working families. A person without the ability to take off in order to care for themselves or their children places not only themselves at risk but also anyone they come in contact with at work or in school.

“As women in leadership, we know first hand the impact of these unequal laws and disparate opportunities on the well-being of our families, and for those employers and schools that are affected by these situations.

“So, this is not just a social justice issue; it is also an economic issue. And once we get to discuss this issue in these terms we will get an opportunity to move those who wouldn’t otherwise be moved on this issue. And this is the time to address this issue.”
