(TRENTON) – Assemblywoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-Mercer/Hunterdon) issued the following statement Thursday concerning plans by Capital Health to move essential services including its maternity ward from Trenton to its Hopewell hospital:
“It’s disheartening to see Capital Health’s proposal to eliminate essential services for the residents of Trenton.
“Promises were made to keep certain services in Trenton during the certificate of need process for the first relocation. The state Department of Health and Human Services should review the commitments made during that process given the hospital’s plans to move more services out of Trenton.
“Capital Health claimed to be committed to the community that sustained it for many years. This move would leave the city without any maternity beds and other essential services. That is not commitment.”
