***WEDNESDAY ADVISORY*** Schaer & Jasey to Host Media Teleconference on Student Loan Debt, Effect of Declining Public Investment in Higher Ed

Lawmakers to Join New Jersey Policy Perspective During 11:30 AM Call with Reporters

Assembly Budget Committee Chair Gary S. Schaer and Assembly Higher Education Committee Chair Mila Jasey will host a teleconference Wednesday morning to discuss a new report on higher education debt to be unveiled by New Jersey Policy Perspective, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that conducts research on public policy issues in New Jersey.

Schaer and Jasey will join New Jersey Policy Perspective in holding an 11:30 a.m. media teleconference Wednesday to discuss the specifics of the report, “Debt Sentence: The Effects of New Jersey’s Declining Public Investment in Higher Education,” with members of the media.

The report includes an analysis of New Jersey public university tuition and fee trends, a look at student debt and its effects and recommendations to help make college more affordable. Publication of the report comes in advance of a legislative package Schaer and Jasey plan to introduce as part of an effort to address student debt and increase college preparedness in New Jersey.
