WILSON HONORED WITH 2011 CIRCLE OF WINNERS AWARD

(AUDUBON) – Last week, Assemblyman Gilbert “Whip” Wilson (D-Camden/Gloucester) was honored with a 2011 Circle of Winners Award during the Anointed News Journal’s holiday fundraiser. The 17th annual Black Tie Gala was held on Friday, December 16, at The Mansion on Main Street in Voorhees.

“I am grateful to be among this year’s ANJ award winners,” said Assemblyman Wilson. “I’ve dedicated my life to public service, and there is truly no better feeling than serving the community that you call home.”

Assemblyman Wilson was honored for his continued service in the community, including his roles as assistant basketball coach at Camden High School under Coach Clarence Turner and as assistant football coach for the Centerville Simbas. Wilson was also recognized for helping Camden Creative Arts High School band with their fundraising efforts to travel to a national competition in New Orleans, and for assisting Camden Creative Arts Morgan Village Academy in their uniform drive to ensure that students had sufficient attire.

The awards ceremony was hosted by Andre Collins, former National Football League player and Super Bowl XXVI champion. Collins currently serves as the Director of Retired Players for the National Football League Players Association.

Other 2011 award winners include Wanda A. Dickerson, Emery Troy, Yocontalie (Connie) Jackson, and Mark K. Bryant.
