Wimberly on Assembly Housing and Community Development Committee Hearing Focusing on Landlord & Tenant Issues

Assemblyman Benjie Wimberly (D-Bergen/Passaic) issued the following statement on today’s Assembly Housing and Community Development hearing at William Paterson University:

“Today, the Assembly Housing and Community Development Committee heard from experts as well as the public on landlord and tenant issues in New Jersey.

“One of the top priorities of this committee is to ensure relationships between tenants and landlords are strong, transparent and trusting. In addition, it is imperative that our tenants are living in a safe environment. Today’s hearing allowed us to learn more about the specifics of landlord and tenant issues, which far too many of our residents experience on a daily basis.

“I want to thank everyone who came to our hearings this past year and told us their story – making problems with housing in New Jersey both tangible and real for us as legislators. In 2019, our committee will continue to travel across the state to learn more about this broad, diverse issue and we will continue to craft legislation that addresses housing insufficiencies and ultimately improves quality of life in our state.”
