(TRENTON) – Assemblyman Benjie E. Wimberly (D-Bergen, Passaic) issued the following statement on school funding and the budget address:
“As a member of the budget committee, I am looking forward to working on a comprehensive budget that benefits all of New Jersey.
“Drastic cuts to school funding over the years has forced many school districts to layoff teachers and school administrators and cut critical school programs. Fixing and fully funding the school formula will be the key to repairing the damage done in our state’s most disparaged school districts due to chronic underfunding.
“We’ll need to judiciously review each piece of legislation presented in the budget concerning school funding and stabilizing educational efforts in our schools.”
