Wimberly on Special Fund Created with Horizon Blue Cross Surplus

(TRENTON) – Assemblyman Benjie Wimberly (D-Bergen, Passaic) issued the following statement on his exchange with the state treasurer regarding the exclusion of Horizon Blue Cross funding in the FY 2018 proposed budget:

“It’s disheartening for the Treasurer not to have any information on who would control the new fund or how taking such money will affect rates for Horizon consumers. It’s inexplicable and inexcusable.

“Access to quality health care and its cost is a worrisome issue for many New Jerseyans amid President Trump’s ongoing attempt to strip away health care. Amid such fear, Horizon clients deserve some idea on whether their rates will go up due to transferring of funds into whatever special account the governor is considering.”
