WIMBERLY RESPONDS TO PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA’S CALL TO END TEEN DATING VIOLENCE

Assemblyman Benjie Wimberly, Nickelodeon Star-Turned-Filmmaker Jordan Coleman, Paterson Mayor Jeff Jones, NJ PBA Members, Clergy and Hundreds of NJ Teens and Parents Will Join Forces to Say NO to Teen Dating Violence

What: In honor of Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, Assemblyman Benjie Wimberly and Nickelodeon Star-Turned-Filmmaker Jordan Coleman will host an awareness rally and film screening, featuring Coleman’s award-winning film “Payin’ the Price,” a cautionary tale about teen dating violence. The film will be followed by a community conversation and Q&A with Coleman

The event is part of a national, multi-city “Speak Up & Get Out Tour” to start the conversation about teen dating violence. “Payin’ the Price” is the winner of the 2011 HBO Best Feature Film Competition at the Martha’s Vineyard African-American Film Festival. Coleman, who wrote and directed the film, was inspired by the 2009 Chris Brown/Rihanna domestic violence incident. With one-in-three teens affected by dating violence, Coleman made the film to shed light on the epidemic and stimulate discussion.
