Wimberly Statement on the Supreme Court Pension Ruling

(TRENTON) – Assemblyman Benjie Wimberly issued the following statement on the recent ruling by the state Supreme Court regarding pensions:

“My wife and I are career educators in Paterson. We find it hard to believe that after we have worked for well over 25 years, this administration continues to find ways to avoid making the required payment into the pension system, while we continue to hold up our end of the contract every pay period.

“Many of my constituents, my closest friends and colleagues, whether it be law enforcement, as firefighters, or as teachers, public employees are frustrated and rightfully so.

“This payment is not an option. It is an obligation. It is important to thousands of New Jersey’s hardworking public workers and to the future state of our economy.”

“Democrats made making a full pension payment a priority last year and will continue to work hard on this issue in the coming months.”
