(TRENTON) – Assemblyman Benjie Wimberly (D-Bergen/Passaic), who sits on the Assembly Budget Committee, issued the following statement on today’s budget vote:
“The budget committee did its due diligence, hearing from different constituents and organizations to ensure the budget was fair and moderate. It is unfortunate that all the work that helped shape this budget has been set aside, and instead hinges on whether the governor gets what he wants. To threaten a shutdown unless he gets his way is shameful. I can’t say I expect better from the governor, but I do expect better from my colleagues. Let’s stand up for the taxpayers, let’s uphold our values and support the budget bill.”
