WISNIEWSKI APPLAUDS SWIFT END TO FEDERAL BICKERING OVER DOT FUNDING

(TRENTON) — After a U.S. Senate vote late Tuesday to authorize a 30 day, $10 billion extension for unemployment benefits and critical transportation funding, Assembly Transportation Committee Chairman John S. Wisniewski issued the following statement:

“This emergency funding will ensure roadway improvement projects throughout New Jersey continue to receive the federal funding that puts shovels in the ground and money in the pockets of the thousands of workers who would otherwise continue to be furloughed.

“It is my hope that when we begin the debate over the continued funding of New Jersey’s Transportation Trust Fund in the coming months, we apply the lessons learned at the federal level over the past week and a half and choose not to put partisan politics above the good of the people.”
