WISNIEWSKI: EDUCATION REFORM SHOULD BE BASED ON PROVEN STRATEGIES, NOT IDEOLOGICAL AGENDAS

(TRENTON) – Assembly Deputy Speaker John Wisniewski (D-Middlesex) today released the following statement concerning Gov. Christie’s education reform agenda:

“Any public discussion about how we might improve the education we provide New Jersey’s children is positive and encouraging, but it must start with recognition that our public schools and public school teachers provide the overwhelming majority of our students with a solid foundation for future success. As we consider reform proposals, our focus should be on the where we fall short, our discussions should include the wide range of constituencies who have something to contribute to the discussions, particularly parents and teachers, and the initiatives we pursue should be based on proven strategies rather than narrow ideological agendas.”
