Wisniewski: No Legitimate Reason for Christie Early Voting Veto

(SAYREVILLE) – Deputy Assembly Speaker John S. Wisniewski (D-Middlesex) issued the following statement in response to Gov. Christie’s veto of legislation (A-3553) he sponsored to allow for early voting in New Jersey:

“There is no more precious a right than our right to vote. It is the foundation of any democracy.
“In vetoing early voting for New Jersey citizens, Gov. Christie has turned his back on one of the lessons of Hurricane Sandy and the difficulties faced by hard-working people trying to balance work and family life with the responsibilities of citizenship.
“Thirty two states and the District of Columbia have taken this simple and responsible step to encourage voter participation. There is no legitimate reason why New Jersey could not have done the same.”
