Wisniewski Statement on Baroni & Wildstein Subpoenaed Documents Due Monday

(TRENTON) – Assembly Deputy Speaker John Wisniewski (D-Middlesex), chairman of the Assembly transportation panel, released the following statement Monday on the ongoing inquiry into the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s decision to close – without public notice – lanes to the George Washington Bridge from Fort Lee:

“Mr. Baroni and Mr. Wildstein have had documents delivered by their criminal defense attorneys.

“The documents will now be examined to see if they were responsive to the subpoena requests. They will then be reviewed and I expect to soon announce the next steps in the committee’s inquiry into the unresolved questions surrounding these lane closures.

“As I have said, this incident was not a traffic cone joke. It was a threat to public safety and abuse of power. We will get the answers whether the governor likes it or not.”
