Zwicker Statement on Winter Storm Flooding

Assemblyman Andrew Zwicker released the following statement Thursday regarding flooding after the recent winter storm:

“Families in a number of New Jersey municipalities are experiencing severe flooding and are in urgent need of assistance after this historic snowstorm.

“Everyone agrees that this was an exceptional storm, and as such, it demands an exceptional response. Flood damage of the magnitude we’ve seen over the last few days warrants assistance from the federal government, and those affected rightfully expect the state to act accordingly.

“With winter storms presenting greater challenges year after year – and with climate change projected to increase the intensity of future storms – it’s more important than ever that our state take the appropriate short-term and long-term steps to prepare going forward. Right now, however, New Jersey has an immediate responsibility to respond to the many calling for help.”
