Armato and Mazzeo Statement on Smoking Ban in NJ Casinos Amid COVID-19

(TRENTON) – In response to the announcement by Governor Phil Murphy that smoking will be prohibited in New Jersey casinos during the COVID-19 public health emergency, Assemblymen John Armato and Vince Mazzeo (both D-Atlantic) released the following statement:

“As we work to combat the spread of a virus that’s easily transmissible through the air, temporarily banning smoking in casinos is the best decision for the safety of workers and patrons alike. Prohibiting smoking will make it easier for casinos to filter clean air, which experts agree is key to slowing the virus’s spread in indoor spaces. We look forward to supporting the casino industry through this next reopening phase and the transition to our new normal.”
