Assembly Budget Panel to Get Budget & Revenue Overview from State Treasurer & Legislative Budget Officer

NJ Economic Opportunity Act of 2013 Also to Be Considered

(TRENTON) – The Assembly Budget Committee will meet Thursday to hear from the state treasurer and the legislative budget officer on the proposed state budget and projected revenues and to consider the proposed New Jersey Economic Opportunity Act of 2013.
The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in Committee Room 11 on the 4th Floor of the State House Annex in Trenton.
Audio of the hearing will be streamed live at http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/media/live_audio.asp.
The committee will first hear a budget overview and revenue forecast from the Office of Legislative Services.
It will then hear testimony from state Treasurer Andrew Sidamon-Eristoff.
Immediately after the treasurer’s testimony, the committee will consider the economic development legislation (A-3680) sponsored by Albert Coutinho (D-Essex), Troy Singleton (D-Burlington), Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-Mercer/Hunterdon), Ruben J. Ramos Jr. (D-Hudson), Speaker Pro Tempore Jerry Green (D-Union/Middlesex/Somerset) and Herb Conaway M.D. (D-Burlington).
The New Jersey Economic Opportunity Act of 2013 expands two economic development incentive programs – the Grow New Jersey Assistance Program and the Economic Redevelopment and Growth Grant Program, while phasing out three other economic development incentives.
This merger will enhance the state’s ability to attract and retain businesses to further the overarching goal of creating and retaining jobs.
