Calabrese Calls for Dye to Step Down as President of Passaic NAACP Following Hateful Rhetoric

Assemblyman Clinton Calabrese (D-Bergen, Passaic) issued the following statement regarding Jeffrey Dye’s dismissal from the Department of Labor and Workforce Development  after his shocking and unacceptable anti-Semitic comments directed at district mate Assemblyman Gary Schaer (D-Bergen, Passaic):

“Assemblyman Schaer, who I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with over my term, has proudly served the 36th district for the past 13 years. He is a man of great integrity and volition.

“I am pleased that the Governor’s administration took swift action to remove Mr. Dye from his position with the State after the totally unwarranted and inappropriate vitriolic attacks he directed at Assemblyman Schaer.

“Mr. Dye’s long history of anti-Semitic and anti-Latino social media posts, prior to and during his employment by the State, are indicative of a broader, hate-filled rhetoric that has no place in New Jersey.

“I strongly urge him to step down immediately as President of the Passaic NAACP. His stated beliefs only further fuel division and anger, countering ideals of diversity and inclusion throughout our communities.”
