Caputo: Compromise Needed on North Jersey Casino Bill

(TRENTON) — Assemblyman Ralph R. Caputo (D-Essex), Assembly Tourism, Gaming and the Arts Committee Chairman had the following published recently in the Asbury Park Press:

“Quite simply, the status quo is unacceptable. More jobs will be lost. More tax revenue will disappear. More economic development will go elsewhere. We must stop the bleeding.

“That’s why I’ve been working to finalize legislation that would ask voters to authorize casinos in northern New Jersey, but an agreement among some legislators remains elusive. Some have forgotten, apparently, that a compromise is, by definition, a way of settling differences through everyone making a concession…”
