Caputo Statement on Federal Sports Gaming Ruling

(28th LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT) – Assembly Tourism and Gaming Chairman Ralph Caputo (D-Essex), the lead Assembly sponsor of efforts to bring sports gaming to New Jersey, released the following statement Friday on the federal court ruling delaying the start of betting:

“I’m disappointed in the judge’s ruling. All it does is delay the inevitable.
“Sports gaming is a reality, albeit a mostly illegal one. All New Jersey is trying to do is legally implement well regulated sports gaming and even the playing field with other states. It’s time for the courts to get out of the way and allow New Jersey to decide its own gaming laws.
“I remain confident New Jersey will prevail in this case.”
