Chiaravalloti and McKnight Statement on Jersey City Active Shooter Situation

Assembly Democrats Nicholas Chiaravalloti and Angela McKnight (both D-Hudson) released the following statements on reports of an active shooter situation in Jersey City:

Assemblyman Chiaravalloti: “Jersey City suffered an unimaginable tragedy today. We cannot forget, or ever take for granted, the incredible sacrifice some of our police officers unfortunately make to keep our communities safe. My heart goes out to the officer’s family, and to those of the civilians who tragically lost their lives. I’m praying for a full recovery for officers injured during the standoff, and for the safety of our all our first responders.”

Assemblywoman McKnight: “It’s heartbreaking to see a scenario like this unfold in my hometown of Jersey City. Our community will never forget the tremendous bravery of the officer who lost his life today and all of the law enforcement who responded to the scene. We pray for the families of all of victims of this horrible tragedy. I urge residents in the area to stay safe as police continue to investigate this matter. Thanks to quick response by police and our local schools, students in neighboring schools were put on lockdown and all are safe.”
