Chiaravalloti Statement on Expansion of Preschool Programs

Assemblyman supports expansion; will co-sponsor legislation to expand pre-k programs statewide

(BAYONNE) – Assemblyman Nicholas Chiaravalloti (D-Hudson) issued the following statement Wednesday after attending an event at Mary Jane Donohoe Elementary School in Bayonne, where they discussed the roll out of free preschool programs in non-Abbott districts:

“Investing in our children so that each student can live up to his or her potential is a priority I will fight for every day in the state legislature.
“Our children deserve access to early childhood programs and a quality education system.
“However, simply expressing my support for these priorities, in particular the expansion of preschool programs, is not enough. For that reason, I intend on co-sponsoring legislation that will expand full-day preschool programs for three- and four-year olds in school districts throughout New Jersey – including Bayonne.
“The data shows that early childhood education has an incredibly positive impact on the performance of children in school. We must steer our children along the path that a quality education provides.
“Without investment and early education programs, we limit the tools our children need and narrow their path to success and future opportunities.”
