Cryan Statement on Rutgers University’s Tentative Deal Over Exit Fees

Assemblyman Joseph Cryan (D-Union) released the following statement on Wednesday regarding Rutgers University’s Tentative Deal with Big East Over Exit Fees:

“I’m deeply disturbed at the refusal of Rutgers University to reveal details of its tentative agreement with the Big East to settle its lawsuit over exit fees from the conference.

“This is a public university funded by taxpayer dollars and the hard-earned tuition and fees of students and parents. This may be a tentative agreement, but that’s all the more reason to disclose the proposed terms.

“The public is entitled to know how much this may cost before the deal is signed, not afterward when it will be too late to provide input.

“Rutgers is quite simply in no position these days to be spending large amounts of money without full public disclosure and discussion.”
