Gusciora: Christie Fracking Waste Veto Puts N.J. in Twilight Zone of ‘Junk Science’ States

(15th LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT) – Assemblyman Reed Gusciora (D-Mercer/Hunterdon) released the following statement Friday after Gov. Chris Christie vetoed legislation (A-2108) he sponsored to protect New Jerseyans from fracking waste:

“I’m disappointed the governor vetoed my bill to ban ‘fracking waste’ in our state. Unfortunately, it puts New Jersey in the Twilight Zone of ‘Junk Science’ states.
“Our state has always led the nation in promoting strong environmental laws, from reducing car emissions to shore protection.
“This ban on fracking waste would have been an important step in protecting our residents. The evidence is already mounting that fracking comes with serious environmental consequences. If we allow fracking waste to get into our water systems unchecked, we’ll pay a horrible price.
“While I understand the politics of this veto, I am somewhat comforted knowing the governor at this point still recognizes that global warming is a manmade threat.”
