JOHNSON: GOVERNOR HAS TAKEN PUBLIC DISCOURSE TO ‘A TERRIBLE LOW’

(TRENTON) – Assemblyman Gordon Johnson (D-Bergen) released the following statement on Friday:

“I’m appalled by the governor’s language toward my friend and district colleague, Sen. Weinberg, and his office’s continued defense of it.
“It was bad enough that the governor saw fit to call children ‘drug mules’ or compare others to ‘thugs’ and ‘bullies,’ but to urge people to ‘take out the bat’ against someone takes public discourse to a terrible low.
“Rhetoric such as this has no place in mature, adult conversation about public policy.
“The governor may enjoy his YouTube moments, but words have meaning, and using language with such violent imagery is beneath anyone, let alone New Jersey’s governor.
“The governor needs to make this right and apologize.”
