Prieto: Post the Bill, Speaker Boehner

(TRENTON) – Assembly Budget Chairman Vincent Prieto (D-Hudson/Bergen) released the following statement Wednesday on the failure of the House of Representatives to vote on the Sandy relief package desperately needed to help storm-ravaged communities recover:

“To delay much needed assistance to communities devastated by this storm is just rotten.

“The damage has been well documented. Entire communities have been ravaged. Families continue to struggle to put their lives back in order. These residents have been waiting patiently for help to arrive, and now they have to wait some more? The financial toll that this storm has taken on our state is staggering. For Speaker Boehner to ignore this sobering reality, and put on hold a bill that would deliver much needed financial relief to our towns and residents is simply inexcusable.

“I recognize that the last few weeks in Washington have been incredibly intense, but that is no excuse to skip out on our responsibility to residents afflicted by this terrible storm. These communities need our help now, not later, so with all due respect, Speaker Boehner, do your job and post the bill.”
